On Saturday evening, June 8, more than 300 people gathered at the beautiful home of Amy and Anthony Civale to celebrate the 100th anniversary of The Community Fund of Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe. The special celebration was exceptional, gathering together friends, supporters, staff, volunteers, and the evening’s premier sponsor, NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital.
Bill Rizzo, Community Fund president, praised the event. “The biggest birthday bash in the last 100 years certainly lived up to its billing, with over 350 people from the Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe community celebrating the 100 years since The Community Fund’s founding. The turnout and the dollars raised are so gratifying because it means that the prospects for our second century couldn’t be brighter.”
Graciously co-chaired by Barbara Eustis, Janet Lyons, Kiri Wolfe, and Hilary Blumenriech, this special 100th celebration introduced The Fund to those new to town, and reacquainted longtime donors with the organization’s core mission. Close to $300,000 was raised to benefit Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe residents.
The evening highlighted 100 years of service and support to the community. Speakers included Bill Rizzo, current board chair; Kiri Wolfe, incoming board chair; and Michael Fosina, president of New York-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital. A short film introduced the audience to the numerous nonprofit and social service agencies The Community Fund impacts on a yearly basis.
Amy Korb, the fund’s executive director, reflected on its one-hundred-year history. “For the last century, we have been here to support our residents. The fund was started one hundred years ago in partnership with Lawrence Hospital to combat the flu epidemic. We continue to look for new ways to support the community. We are excited about our upcoming initiatives with NYP Lawrence Hospital on the health and wellness of adolescents in Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe. Thank you so much to NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital for being our premier sponsor for the event.”
