“The Evaluation process is what makes The Community Fund such a unique and special organization,” said Caitlin Greatrex, Evaluations Co-Chair. “Community members volunteer their time to better understand local needs, helping ensure that every dollar donated is invested thoughtfully and responsibly in programs that strengthen our community.”

The Community Fund’s annual grantmaking process relies on extensive community participation. This year, 50 volunteer Community Evaluators—including local adults and Youth Community Fund members—reviewed grant applications, attended agency presentations, conducted site visits and interviews, and assessed community needs, program effectiveness, and organizational capacity. Their recommendations informed funding decisions ultimately approved by the Board of Directors.

“The Community Fund’s evaluation process is grounded in real community perspective,” added Katrina Nay, Evaluations Co-Chair. “By engaging volunteers with deep ties to Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe, we maintain a strong understanding of evolving local needs and ensure support reaches the areas where it can have the greatest impact.”

The Community Fund extends its gratitude to the hundreds of local households and local businesses whose annual contributions make this work possible. Community support helps fund critical services for seniors, youth, individuals with special needs, families experiencing loss, residents facing financial hardship, and those coping with illness or other life challenges.

Community members interested in serving as volunteer Evaluators for next year’s grant cycle are encouraged to contact The Community Fund and join the effort to strengthen local philanthropy and community impact.
