Shannon McDonough Named Executive Director

The Community Fund of Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe (BET), a local nonprofit organization dedicated to providing critical health and wellness services to community members, proudly announces Shannon McDonough‘s appointment as its new Executive Director.

The Community Fund Board, under the leadership of a dedicated search committee, selected Shannon from a vast pool of qualified applicants following a four-month, rigorous search process.

Shannon replaces Amy Korb, who dedicated seven extraordinary years to the organization—starting the Youth Community Fund, overseeing a Community Needs Assessment, and organizing and implementing the COVID-19 relief fund. Amy passes the torch to Shannon, with the Community Fund of BET well positioned for growth and continued success.

Shannon is a visionary leader with over two decades of experience across the private, academic, and nonprofit sectors. Most recently, she significantly transformed operations and digital and marketing strategies at Lifetime Arts. This renowned, national 501c3 organization integrates creative and social learning for older adults. Under her leadership, Lifetime Arts has expanded its influence across more than 40 states, supported by an impressive array of public and private funders, including The Institute for Museum and Library Sciences, the American Alliance of Museums, and the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies.

Beyond her professional achievements, Shannon is a multidisciplinary visual artist, a nonfiction writer, and an avid traveler. Shannon holds a BA in English literature from Stonehill College and an MS in library and information science from Simmons University.

“I am most excited to bring all that I have learned about organizational strategy and change across private, academic, and public sectors, to the inspiring work of sustaining and growing this storied organization,” said Shannon about this new role. “I want to tell all of the stories about why you give; how your involvement with The Fund has made you feel about where you live; what The Fund’s financial support has meant to agency operations; and what it has meant to you personally. I look forward to partnering with you, our board of directors, the agencies, our Evaluators, and everyone in the community who has been touched by the power of community giving.”

Chris Bush, President of the Community Fund Board, said, “We were so pleased with the quality of the candidates who applied for the Executive Director role. Shannon’s diverse expertise, energy, and unique understanding of fundraising, operations, and marketing in the nonprofit space made her the perfect candidate.”

Shannon will begin her role as the new Executive Director of the Community Fund on Monday, September 23. She looks forward to partnering with the nonprofit agencies the Community Fund supports and meeting the community members in Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe who proudly support the Fund’s mission. Shannon can be reached at shannon@communityfund.org, via The Fund’s Instagram account, or phone: 914-337-8808 (office), or 857-523-6100 (mobile).
