NYP Lawrence Hospital to Be Premier Sponsor for 100th-Anniversary Celebration

The Community Fund of Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe is pleased to announce that NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital will be the premier sponsor of The Community Fund’s 100th-anniversary celebration on June 8 in Bronxville.

This generous sponsorship is the first phase of a new strategic collaboration to address specific mental and physical health issues impacting our residents. The initial focus will be on developing and funding new programs that help target stress, anxiety, and drug and alcohol abuse among adolescents.

Amy Korb, the executive director of The Community Fund, stated, “Results from a survey done by The Community Fund last fall have helped shed light on key areas where we can expand our reach and programming support for residents across Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe. They showed an increasing concern about the mental health of our youth and the need for better education and support for the prevention of addictions. Fortunately, when we reached out to NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital to discuss these findings and how we might work together, they jumped right on board. They were excited to pool our resources to help develop and fund new initiatives that would serve the mental and physical health needs across all residents in our community.”

“The Community Fund was started in 1919 to support what was then known as Lawrence Hospital by providing much-needed services to residents of Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe,” said Michael Fosina, MPH, FACHE, president of NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital. “As they celebrate their 100th year, we are thrilled to build on that foundation and work with them on new mental health and drug and alcohol abuse prevention programs for adolescents.”

Since its founding in 1919, The Community Fund has been there for its residents, whether poor, infirm, elderly or simply in need of the support of one’s neighbors. The Community Fund of Bronxville, Eastchester, Tuckahoe, Inc. was founded on October 2, 1919, as The Community Welfare Fund, Inc., to support Lawrence Hospital, The Associated Charities of Eastchester, and other charitable agencies or welfare work in the community. The fund served the community during the Depression and World War II, providing basic support to families and the war effort.

For the past 100 years, The Community Fund has served the towns of Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe and has been a driving force in providing crucial funding to worthy causes within these communities. On June 8, we invite you to celebrate The Community Fund and its important work and ultimately help support the causes that It impacts. This not-to-be-missed cocktail party will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 pm and will be hosted at the home of Amy and Anthony Civale at 21 Elm Rock Road in Bronxville.

The Community Fund gives over $500,000 each year to local nonprofit agencies, community programs, and municipalities to improve the lives of all residents. This year’s annual campaign is $60,000, short of our goal of $500,000. Please consider attending this event or donating, as these funds are crucial to improving the lives of many people in our surrounding communities. Your donations go directly back into the community and the agencies The Community Fund supports.
