Community Fund Accepting Grant Applications

By Donna Ruhanen, Marketing Chair, The Community Fund

The Community Fund of Bronxville, Eastchester, Tuckahoe, Inc. is currently accepting grant applications for the 2019 fiscal year from qualified applicants.

Comprising local volunteers, The Community Fund provides financial assistance and administrative support to nonprofit organizations serving residents’ health, education, and welfare needs in the villages of Bronxville and Tuckahoe, the Town of Eastchester, and the areas in the 10708 zip code.

“The Community Fund is an organization that takes its fiduciary responsibility seriously,” noted Amy Korb, executive director of the fund. “Through our evaluation process, each agency and grant application is thoroughly reviewed by our team of local volunteers, helping us to determine the appropriate level of financial support and guidance required to ensure that needed services are available to residents.”

For consideration, applications must be received by Friday, January 18, 2019.

Nonprofit organizations that qualify are invited to apply. Funding is determined based on several factors, including community needs, distribution of existing services, impact on the community, population served, quality of administration/service, collaboration, and financial condition.

Another $50,000 has been set aside for discretionary grants for the fiscal 2019 year.  This available funding is offered to nonprofits, community programs, and qualifying municipalities that need assistance for new projects. This process is done on a rolling basis. Past projects include refurbishment of the Tuckahoe basketball courts, capital upgrades for TYA and Eastchester Little League, defibrillators for local schools, police radio equipment, and administrative support for local community programs. Our most recent discretionary grant was awarded to OSilas Gallery to support a special education art program for local high schools.

Heading up agency evaluations for this year are Community Fund board members Jennifer Buckley and Jonalie Korengold.
