A man displays two medals after running a marathon.

Late last month, Eastchester’s Matthew Harris ran his first marathon ever in The Hamptons. Not only did he finish, but he ran a 3:46:54 race and placed first in his division!

In honor of this epic run, Matt generously raised $900 toward the annual campaign because he knows that every dollar raised goes right back to our community members in Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe. He had this to say about the experience:

“Originally I hoped to just finish, then I thought I might be able to get a finishing time under 4 hours and so I was delighted to get that time. I was even more surprised when I got a second medal for being first in my division of males 50-54 year olds. I never expected that.

In fact, I had already gotten my finisher medal so when someone tried to hand me a second medal (for 1st in division) at the results table I at first told them someone already gave me my medal.  Overall I placed 99th out of 546 people running the marathon.

It was a really enjoyable experience and it’s all-the-more meaningful to me that I raised a little money for The Community Fund.”

Thank you, Matt! We are so appreciative!
