Discretionary Grants

Submissions reviewed on a rolling basis

Discretionary Grants

Limited-time, responsive, or seed grants generally funded for 1 year at a maximum of $10,000. Awards are subject to the board’s discretion. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year while funding lasts.

Eligibility

501c3 organizations in good standing that serve the residents of Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe zip codes are eligible to apply. See Guidelines section below.

Evaluation and Notification Processes

Discretionary fund grant requests will be evaluated against all of the following parameters:

1. How does the proposal advance The Community Fund’s mission to serve the most vulnerable members of our community?

2. How does the proposal address a demonstrated, unmet need in the community?

3. Can the applicant organization demonstrate its capacity to implement a funded proposal effectively?

4. What is the potential of the proposal to have a measurable, positive, and sustainable impact in the community?

Discretionary grant applications are reviewed on a rolling basis by our evaluation committee.

Applications the committee recommends for funding are then voted on at our board meetings, held every other month. Notification will be made to the applicant as soon as decisions have been finalized.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

– Grant funding needs to be used entirely within the grant year.

– Submit only 1 request per application.

– If your need is time-sensitive, please contact us to discuss review and approval process timing.

Mental Health

Our Community Needs Assessment, conducted in partnership with Pace University, identified mental health as the top concern across our service area.

If your request has demonstrable and measurable roots in supporting mental health, please submit it in this category.

Guidelines

Govt./Taxing Authorities & Schools

We do not fund services that are obligations of local governments or school systems. Where a service is not mandated to be provided by taxing authorities, The Fund can potentially assist.

Religious & Political Orgs.

The Fund does not support groups organized primarily for religious or political purposes. Any religious entity must distinguish in both budget and program design between the proposal and religious activities.

Recreational & Cultural Programs

Recreational sports leagues and cultural programs which generate revenue through fees are considered to be self-financing. The Fund may consider applications to support safety and health needs, and those which target at risk populations will be considered.

Capital Projects

Generally, The Fund does not provide funds for capital projects.
