What is the Youth Community Fund All About?

Sophomores Help Evaluate Community Fund Annual Agency Grant Applications
The YCF was established in order to introduce local high school students into the community philanthropy model, training rising sophomores and juniors to participate in the annual agency grant evaluation process. YCF members (primarily sophomores) will join adult evaluators in reading through grant applications, meeting with agency leaders, and developing an evaluation report for the Community Fund Board’s use in making funding decisions.
ALL YCF Members Will Help Make YCF Grants
Annually, YCF membership dues generate a $5,000 fund from which members award up to 3 grants to local nonprofits and organizations for youth-development projects. Last year, members awarded 3 grants to The Picture House’s Documentary Film Camp; The Ward House’s National Anniversary programming; and Novelty Innovations’s Social Venture Accelerator.

All are Welcome to Participate in Special Programs
Last winter, the YCF welcomed Stephanie Marquesano, founder of The Harris Project. Stephanie has delivered several presentations for BET students and parents to raise awareness about co-occurring disorders. She led a brainstorming session with YCF members ahead of last spring’s Westchester Youth Summit.

All Members May Take Advantage of Volunteer Opportunities

- Bronxville Ballet Not For Sale
- Bronxville Senior Center
- Eastchester Community Action Program (ECAP)
- Tuckahoe Senior Center

- The Village of Tuckahoe
- The Community Fund’s Annual Grant Evaluation Process
