“Since July of 2024, the Tuckahoe Public Library has hosted 206 programs attended by almost 6,000 children, teens, and adults, with The Community Fund sponsoring over half of our events:
– In the past year we’ve pivoted strongly into new storytime programs with established and new presenters and added bi-lingual formats.
– Our partnership with Budding Buddhas Kids Yoga introduced children to mindful balance, relaxation, and strength.
– Teens took CPR and babysitting certification courses, which encouraged safety and employment opportunities. They also learned to code through Minecraft, and explored the benefits of play through game night and ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ campaigns.
– Our ESOL program has expanded to include multiple levels of instruction.
– Our popular all-ages cooking programs promote intercultural exchange and nutritional awareness.
– Hotspots circulated 179 times last year. On top of providing patrons with Internet access outside the library, they were also used to guarantee successful programming during blackouts and adverse conditions.
– Finally, this grant also allows us to provide access to prestige television, movies, and additional content locked behind Netflix, Disney+ and other paywalled streaming services.”

The Tuckahoe Public Library collaborates with the Village of Tuckahoe, Eastchester and Tuckahoe Senior Citizens, local businesses, Tuckahoe Daycare Centers, ECAP, The Eastchester/Tuckahoe Chamber of Commerce, the Tuckahoe Union Free School District, the Eastchester School District, Eastchester Volunteer Ambulance Corp., Boy and Girl Scout Troops, Concordia Conservatory, Eastchester Historical Society and Tuckahoe History Committee, Eastchester Rotary, Bronx River Soundshore Audubon, Tuckahoe Beautification, League of Women Voters of Westchester, ArtsWestchester, Westchester Library System and other libraries of the Westchester Library System.
In the past, we have conducted programming with and/or for these groups. We plan to continue these partnerships and create new ones. By working with these groups we can continue to provide a diverse array of library services and programs.
While all our partner organizations offer valuable skills and expertise, the Tuckahoe Library is unique for its ability to to coordinate between all these services and respond to the specific needs of our users without being bound to a singular focus.
