42 Weeks of After School & Summer Enrichment Programs

Impact Statement

“Access to quality after school programs and enrichment activities is directly tied to income. According to the 2020 ‘America After 3.” report by Afterschool Alliance, 1 out of 10 adults reported that after school programs are important to their community, however, more that 19 million are unable to enroll in an after school program. ECAP’s Books and Beyond After School program is providing this opportunity for working poor families and families with low income.

Students receive homework assistance and tutoring covering the basic subjects: Math, English and Science, are engaged in enrichment and physical activities. Students also actively participate in STEM activities, chess, yoga, dance, and various sports as well as go on trips and to the Eastchester pool.

Working families benefit from the after school program as they can focus and not miss work because they have a safe pace for their children to go while at work. The after school and summer programs provide adult supervision which makes the children feel safe, promotes positive youth development and reduces risky behaviors.

Thanks to The Community Fund’s support, ECAP not only sustains these programs but also collaborates with other organizations to offer them at a no cost to the families we serve.”

Last year, ECAP distributed over 60,000 pounds of food to 364 families facing food insecurity. We also provided 180 holiday and Thanksgiving food baskets, helping families celebrate the season with dignity. To support seniors and help them maintain their independence, ECAP delivered food monthly to 40 seniors directly to their homes. Other programs and services include:
